Back to the Future is one of the biggest movies of the 1980s, and still very popular to this day! The story of the time travelling boy in a DeLorean has the perfect combination of Sci-Fi, romance and comedy. This movie has impacted many people’s lives and made big changes in the movie industry.
Back to the Family
Way back in 2014 when I was just a young teenager, my parents called my brother and I downstairs for a fun family movie night. On TV was a marathon of all 3 Back to the Future movies. My parents – who had been big fans of the franchise – couldn’t wait to show this masterpiece to their kids! Little did they know I would fall in love with that movies as much as they did years ago. My dad saw all 3 movies in the theatre back in the 80s and 90s. Only he was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have to wait years for the next movie to come out. He likes to call Back to the Future a classic family movie. Now, having watched the movies 100+ times, he still discovers little Easter eggs that he hasn’t noticed before, this is what makes the movie so enjoyable after having it seen so many times.
A great watch
Even though the movie is set in 3 different times, there is a lot of continuity and association in the franchise. Think of the Biff and George dynamic, all 3 movies having a family meal scene, or Marty always entering some sort of café when he travels to a different time. The humour is for everyone to enjoy; like the opening scene in the first movie, with all the clocks going off. No matter if you are 50 or 15, it’s a funny gag! This makes Back to the Future a timeless movie, which is why it still holds up to this day in my opinion.
Your kids are gonna love it
Will the movie still be as big in 50 years as it is today? I’m not sure, it is all up to this generation. Will we show our kids the movie as our parents did? Especially with so many new movies coming out every year and the existence of other classics. If you ask me, the day I have kids I hope they will love the movie as much as I do.
