Kung fu panda is one of the most successful animated film trilogies of the last two decades and it’s clear to see why. With a powerful cast, a great story and an amazing sense of humor these films are a joy to watch. The standout story line about a panda who becomes the dragon warrior by accident and learns kung fu is great and the story goes so much deeper than that. The deeper message really shines through in all the movies and each one takes you on a journey where the main character develops.
A bumpy road:
The story starts with Po, a panda who’s obsessed with kungfu, he lives with his adoptive father, a goose named mister ping and they run a noodle restaurant together. But deep down Po dreams of becoming a kungfu warrior. As fate has it Po gets chosen to be the next dragon warrior and so the story begins. The movies all develop Po’s character as he finds himself and his heritage throughout the three movies. Part four has also been announced and it’s exciting to see what they will make Po go through.
Overall Po truly becomes a great warrior and a wholesome person throughout the movies.
Evil well written:
The three villains all play a big part in the story and are all very well written showing their evil and ulterior motives. The standout villain that everyone will remember is Tai Lung who was an orphan that was raised by the same master as Po later gets trained by. Tai Lung wants to be the dragon warrior and gets consumed with rage once he finds out he’s not worthy.
This rage fuels his anger and makes him attack the valley but most of all he just wanted to make his master happy who was the most disappointed by the news of the dragon warrior.
It’s well written and you can really see the insecurities shine through about his master in his anger.
Journey’s end?
At the end of the third movie you get a sense of ending and it feels like Po has accomplished everything he wanted too. He seems genuinely happy and even finds his birth dad and village. The three parts perfectly sum up his story and the people around him also grow throughout the story. The small comedic jabs, the great storytelling and the portail of the characters all add to how great this trilogy truly is. As the ending feels like the story will end a fourth movie has been announced and will breathe new life in this awesome saga.
So for Po the story will continue and Hopefully the fourth part will be just as good as its predecessors.
